A note from the founders
Our whole approach comes down to one idea: pour into the world what the world has poured into us. Every piece starts as something we lived, a place, a conversation, a song, a moment worth keeping, and we rework it by hand into something you can wear. Runway shows, professional shoots, and years of building this label have poured a lot into us. This internship is where we pour it forward.

Our goal for you: hands-on experience with real creative freedom, where your ideas shape the finished work and your name goes on it.
What you'll work on
Choose any areas that interest you. Each one comes with hands-on work and a line you can put on your resume.
Content and creators
Own a shoot from idea to posted. You'll plan the concept, pick the location, set up, and capture photos and video on site, often with your own friends as talent. We're moving to daily posting across Instagram and TikTok, so there's always a project ready: outfit videos, "what I'd wear to" concepts, campus and city shoots, and product features. You'll work from our brand guide and a shared content calendar, and your ideas shape what gets made.
Resume: Planned and produced daily social photo and video content for an independent fashion label, from concept to publish.
Reel editing Most needed
Turn raw footage into posts people watch twice. You'll edit TikTok-style videos and Reels in CapCut or Premiere, with room to grow into long-form YouTube edits. The craft here is rhythm: cutting on the beat, timing edits to music, building transitions, and pacing a story in fifteen seconds. Everything runs on a structured content calendar, so when you sit down to interview with a major fashion house, you can walk them through exactly what you made, how you made it, and how it performed.
Resume: Edited short-form and long-form video for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube on a structured content calendar.
Events and booth sales
Set up and sell at pop-up booths, primarily in Columbia, with Kansas City and other cities we travel to open to you based on interest. You'll practice visual merchandising for real: building out the booth, choosing which colors and graphics go up front, and designing a set that stops people mid-walk. Our event radar includes Atlanta Streetwear Market, and we've been invited to New York Fashion Week. You'll talk with customers, share the story behind each piece, and earn commission on every sale you make.
Resume: Led visual merchandising and in-person sales at pop-up retail events.
Runway and show production
We've shown our work in multiple runway shows, including Kansas City Fashion Week several times, and interns get a real seat behind the scenes. Work with hair and makeup artists on looks, help shape the music and run of show, dress models, and keep show-day timing tight. Shows like these bring designers, stylists, photographers, and creatives from across the country into one building, with hours to connect. Our New York Fashion Week invitation came from a connection made at Kansas City Fashion Week.
Resume: Supported runway show production, including hair, makeup, music, and model coordination, for an independent fashion label.
Photo shoots
Pitch the concept, then help bring it to life. We work with professional photographers, and interns contribute from the first mood board: themes, locations, styling, and casting. You'll have access to professional lighting and studio equipment, and you'll coordinate on set so the day runs smoothly. Strong ideas get made here, and your name goes in the credits.
Resume: Developed concepts and coordinated styling and production for professional fashion shoots.
Design input and one-of-ones
Bring your ideas to the collection. Interns can pitch concepts for upcoming releases and weigh in on what we make next. When an idea is strong, you can design a one-of-one piece and release it through JOHNSONANDSCOTT, with our promotion and backing behind it. You'll see how a piece moves from first sketch to hand-altered garment to launch day.
Resume: Contributed design concepts to collection development for an independent fashion label.
Merchandising and retail
See how a university retail partnership works from the inside. Our pieces are carried in The Mizzou Store on consignment, and you'll help with product presentation, restocks, inventory tracking, and sales reporting. You'll also learn how the partnership came together and how we're growing it.
Resume: Supported consignment merchandising and inventory for a label carried in The Mizzou Store.
How you're rewarded
We sit down with each intern, set goals around the projects you take on, and reward you when you hit them.
Commission
You earn commission on every sale you make, at booths, events, or through your own code.
Performance bonuses
Hit a goal we agree on together, like growing our followers or views by a set amount in a month, and you get a bonus.
Experience and portfolio
Real projects with your name on them, documented so you can show exactly what you did and how you did it.
