We're on the shelves at the official Mizzou bookstore, and honestly, the way it happened was more "right place, right time" than anything strategic.
We noticed another student brand already had shelf space. So we asked how they got there. That question turned into a name, that name turned into another connection, and eventually we were sitting across from the actual buyers. They looked at the work, and it stayed. On May 14, 2023, we announced JOHNSONANDSCOTT was officially available at the Mizzou Student Center, 901 Rollins St, Columbia, MO. No pitch deck, no cold email, just one good question asked to the right person.
A few months later, in September 2023, we came back and did an in-person giveaway right there at the store, handing out our Love Yourself pieces and getting to actually meet the people wearing them.
The Tiger Line
Everything we carry there runs black and gold, built specifically for that campus and that crowd, tens of thousands of people who already have a color scheme and a reason to wear it. Over the back half of 2023 we rolled out the full Tiger collection piece by piece: the Tiger T-shirt and hoodie, the Flowerhead Tiger line, and the Let's Go Tigers collection.
The Flowerhead Tiger design specifically is an extension of our original Flowerhead collection, meant to represent the interconnection of all living things and the shared need for growth and nourishment. It's not just a mascot print to us.
The record's simple: shelf space came from asking a stranger a question.
