Beneath the Surface: JOHNSONANDSCOTT® × KCFW Fall/Winter 2025

For Kansas City Fashion Week's Fall/Winter 2025 show, JOHNSONANDSCOTT® took the runway at Union Station Kansas City with a collection built around a single idea: what's underneath.

"Beneath the Surface" is about growth through disruption. Every piece in the collection uses distressing, tearing, and reworking not as damage but as a way in, a way to get past the protective layers we all wear and show what's growing underneath. Inner instinct. Inner canvas. The parts of us starting to bloom. Nothing here is broken. It's revealed.

Look One: A Reflection of Your Surroundings
Modeled by @clairepotts01, co-designed with @rachie.wahl. A silver, textured jumpsuit built to catch light and move with the room around it, a piece about absorbing your environment rather than resisting it.

Look Two: Growth and Regrowth
Modeled by @kboe39, co-designed with @rachie.wahl. Acid-washed denim reworked with green fringe pushing through the seams, literal growth breaking through a worn surface.

Look Three: Subtle Chaos
Modeled by @_gracegarver. A cropped, sleeveless set in soft neutral tones with an unexpected patch of color at the hip, order and disorder living in the same silhouette.

Look Four: Animal Instinct
Modeled by @alaynalhaddock. A distressed turtleneck and jogger set slashed through with animal print underneath, the instinct that lives beneath composure.

Look Five: Concrete to Rose
Modeled by @nick.bilyeu, co-designed with @ambriakdesigns. A distressed cream zip-up and sweatpant set, worn and weathered on the outside, soft where it counts.
