A friendship that started over video games, went quiet when the games did, and reconnected years later over his artwork. He'd been making illustration the whole time we weren't talking. Two people who used to share a game lobby, now sharing a garment.
One of his pieces was already living in the world before we ever put it on a shirt, it's the artwork running on the Kansas City Streetcar. So when we started talking collab, there was no guessing at concepts. The work already existed. We just gave it a place to live on fabric.
He also painted the backdrop wall for our first Kansas City Fashion Week gallery presentation, the space that eventually sent two of our pieces to the runway.
