We started JOHNSONANDSCOTT® with one line stuck in our heads: pour into the world what the world has poured into us. That's still the whole thesis. Everything else is just us figuring out what that means one piece at a time.
The name isn't really about us being two guys who founded a brand. It's more of a placeholder for everyone who shaped it, the people, the conversations, the random moments that ended up mattering more than we expected.
We don't really think of what we make as "clothing" in the boring sense. Every piece starts as something else first, a memory, an environment, a conversation that stuck with one of us longer than it should have. Then it goes through reconstruction, experimentation, actual design work, and comes out the other side as part of this ongoing visual diary we're building. Growth, self expression, all of it, just wearable.
How the Work Gets Made
Every piece starts as something that already exists. Blankets, denim, jerseys, knits, garments that carried somebody else's wear before they ever got to us. We cut them apart, reconstruct them, fade them, distress them, layer them, and rework them by hand until they become something that's never existed before and won't exist again.
We think of them as souvenirs, not products. The base can repeat. The hand never does.
Our World
If you're trying to picture where the ideas come from: sunsets, nature, music, travel, and mostly just the people who've poured into us over the years. Every collection is a different chapter of that. It's less a brand and more an archive that keeps growing.
The clothing gets you in the door. It was never meant to be the whole room.
The People Behind the Work
Cyrus Johnson
I think about clothing through what it can become, not just what it is right now. JOHNSONANDSCOTT is a foundation to me, ideas, opportunities, impact, all of it still taking shape. I'm usually the one asking "okay but what does this turn into."
Trey Scott
Trey sees clothing as a way to hold onto moments. The pieces that matter most to him are the ones people remember wearing during something real, a conversation, a night, a feeling. Growing up surrounded by constant reinvention shaped how he sees everything he makes now.
Community & Contribution
None of this happens alone. As the label grows, 10% of profits go toward causes and community work that actually create impact, not just optics. And our community gets a say in where it goes.
